Job Title: Junior DevSecOps Architect

 

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and technically proficient Junior DevSecOps Architec t to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure, automated development and deployment pipelines. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals with foundational experience in software development, DevOps practices, or cybersecurity who are eager to grow their skills at the intersection of development, security, and operations.

As a Junior DevSecOps Solution Architect, you will work closely with senior architects and cross-functional teams to implement security best practices across the software delivery lifecycle, ensure proper integration of security tools, and support compliance and governance efforts. This position requires an Active Top Secret clearance.

Key Responsibilities

1. DevSecOps Support and Pipeline Implementation

• Assist in the design and deployment of CI/CD pipelines with integrated security controls.
• Support the implementation of security scanning, automated testing, and compliance checks within the pipeline.
• Help maintain and update infrastructure automation scripts and templates.

2. Security & Compliance Integration

• Collaborate on applying IAM, secrets management, and secure coding practices.
• Assist in implementing and monitoring security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
• Support documentation and evidence gathering for audits and compliance reviews.

3. Toolchain Configuration and Management

• Help configure and integrate tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, Terraform, SonarQube, and Snyk.
• Troubleshoot and maintain CI/CD tooling and environments under guidance.

4. Collaboration and Team Enablement

• Work with development, security, and operations teams to implement DevSecOps practices.
• Participate in workshops, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Learn and advocate for secure-by-design principles and modern DevOps practices.

5. Monitoring and Incident Response Support

• Assist with setting up logging, monitoring, and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, ELK).
• Support incident investigations and help maintain incident response documentation.
• Monitor for vulnerabilities and misconfigurations in collaboration with the team.

6. Continuous Improvement

• Stay informed about emerging DevSecOps tools, practices, and security threats.
• Contribute ideas for improving automation, security, and team workflows.

Qualifications

Required

• 3+ years of experience in DevOps, software development, or cybersecurity.
• Active Top Secret Clearance 
• Basic understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker; Kubernetes is a plus).
• Exposure to CI/CD tools and IaC (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Terraform, Ansible).
• Knowledge of basic security concepts, such as the OWASP Top 10.
• Ability to script in languages like Python, Bash, or similar.

Preferred

• Experience working in an Agile or DevOps environment.
• Hands-on experience with version control systems like Git.
• Interest in security compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
• Strong desire to learn and grow in a hybrid development/security/ops role.

Location: Patuxent River, Maryland - Remote with travel

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $80,000-$90,000
