JOB TITLE: Campus Security-Middle School
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Building Administrator
FTE : 1.0 (8 hours)
Start Date: September 2, 2025
GENERAL DUTIES SUMMARY:
To maintain a safe environment for students, staff and community patrons. Serve as a positive role model for students.

Be familiar with District's Students Rights and Responsibilities Handbook
Serve as a member of the school Crisis Response team
Pass State Security training requirements
Deal with job expectations that will change with the altering climate of safety in schools
Effective verbal and written communications skills, with students, staff, parents, police and community members
Recognize and assess potential disruptive or unsafe situations
Defuse behavior that is not consistent with SR&H before escalation occurs
Assess situations seek assistance appropriate assistance
Spanish Preferred
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND CAPABILITIES
Completion of Highs School (Diploma) or GED Equivalent
One year experience interacting with high school students is preferred
Familiar with Students Rights and Responsibilities Handbook
Familiar with city, district and school's job expectations, as clarified by supervisor at the beginning of each school year
Speech and writing classes
Current First Aid Card
Current Oregon Operator's License issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles
Current Private Security Certificate
Site District's Students Rights and Responsibilities Handbook
Respond to inquiries or complaints
Communicate their need for clarification and/or interpretation of directions
Communicate appropriately with students, staff, community members as representatives of the District
All employees must be able to communicate in an effective manner; employees with English as a second language must be able to communicate their need for clarification and/or interpretation of directions; employee should be willing to attend English class as requested by supervisor
Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form

Crawl under cars, bleachers, etc.
This position involves both inside and outside work
Some evening work is required
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Tigard-Tualatin School District 23J and Oregon School Employees Association Chapter 51.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a ten month assignment on the H range of the Classified Salary Schedule. The assignment of the step will be in compliance with the current Collective Bargaining agreement and range of pay is located in the current Classified Salary Schedule.
A new employee shall be allowed up to (4) four years experience on the salary schedule, based on actual years of experience on a job of like responsibilites and skills. The highest hourly rate for a new employee would be $23.57 per hour.
